Montreal, October 9, 2024 – The international marketplace for digital creativity, HUB Montreal in partnership with the National Bank, is pleased to announce the participation of Thierry Reboul, Executive Director of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games ceremonies, at its 8th edition. Under the theme “Horizon(s): Technologies of perception and action”, the event will take place on October 21, 22 and 23 at the 7 Fingers.
As part of the official programming, Thierry Reboul will discuss the creative innovations developed and integrated into the ceremonies of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“We are very honored to have the opportunity to welcome such a prestigious guest as Mr. Reboul on the stage of our 8th edition of HUB Montreal! The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games on the Seine was breathtaking and demonstrated that digital creativity and new technologies can help shape unforgettable experiences and arouse collective emotions on a grand scale,” said Rachel Parent, Co-Executive Director of HUB Montreal. “We can say today that there is a before and after Paris 2024 in the production of sport ceremonies and the integration of different tools and creative innovation!” adds Rachel Parent
President and founder of the public events agency Ubi Bene in 2000, specializing in high-visibility operations such as Tony Parker’s jersey on the Statue of Liberty, the destruction of the Knysna bus, or the zip line on the Eiffel Tower, he created and built the giant athletics track on the Seine in 2017 for Paris’s application for the Games. In 2018, he joined Paris 2024 as Executive Director in charge of the Events and Ceremonies Brand. He is the very first creator of an opening ceremony in the heart of a city, in the history of the Olympic Games, and more specifically the creator of the ceremony on the Seine.
“I am very happy to have the opportunity to come to Montreal and to HUB Montreal in particular to meet with Quebec and international creative studios and share my experience around the production of the Paris 2024 ceremonies but also the thoughts that animated our team to make this event collectively memorable” declares Thierry Reboul, Executive Director of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games ceremonies.
This conversation will be followed by a conference led by renowned international players such as CRYSTAL, Filmmaster and LEAP Creative, playing key roles in the biggest sporting ceremonies of the last decades and those to come.
Other prestigious guests will be at the heart of the programming of the 8th edition of HUB Montreal such as Sir William Sargent, co-founder and CEO of Framestore, the VFX studio that has won numerous international awards in film and animation, including the BAFTA and Oscars, for its work on blockbuster films such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and No Time To Die. He will give a keynote on the main stage about the rise of creative industries in England in the service of the country’s economic success.
